Comments for a Cause – It’s Time for School

5 Comments/ 1614/ 0

Rabbit rabbit! For those of you that know —the first of the month means the chance to say “rabbit rabbit” as the first words of the day. Not only does it mean it is rabbit rabbit time, it is also time to talk Comments for a Cause. After all, it’s August 1st and that is what we do on It’s Just Life.

.

This past month I selected Pisgah Legal Services as my charity and they do an amazing job locally of helping those who need legal help get it for free. Knowing that low income folks in our area can receive valuable legal help is a wonderful service and while I didn’t have as many posts this month as I sometimes do, you guys were always there leaving me a comment and encouraging me so Chris and I will be making a donation of $75 to Pisgah Legal Services as. a result of Comments for a Cause. Thank you so much.

August means school will be back in session soon and of course it is all about the teachers and kids. I know a lot of local teachers have Amazon wish lists that they share at the beginning of the year for others to help them with providing supplies for their classrooms. I would encourage you to search those out and see if there is a local teacher that can use your support this school year. They put a lot of their own money to use as they furnish their classrooms and there is never enough to go around. I love how easy it is to create a list on Amazon and share it so do some research and see if a local teacher could use a small donation from you this school year.

.

This month I will be support Sharing House Back to School project. Each year Sharing House hosts a wonderful shopping experience for students where all who are registered with the program are able to get their complete list of school supplies before school starts. I get to help with this great project and coordinator Lynn Traub has this down to a science. Each child gets a backpack filled with the complete list of school supplies as published by their school. They also receive socks and a pair of shoes thanks to a grant given by a wonderful local charity – the. Smith Martini Foundation. It doesn’t get much better than to start off school with a new pair of shoes. This year, as was done last year, students will also be able to receive fresh haircuts as local hairstylists are donating time to provide those by appointment.

Locally, Sharing House has published a list of most needed items for their shelves. Believe me, these items get wiped out really quickly once the appointments kick into high gear and the shelves gt empty pretty quickly.

You can make a big difference in a student’s life by donating items directly from our Amazon Wish List here or by dropping off much-needed supplies at Sharing House. Every contribution helps ensure our kids are ready for the new school year!

Most Needed Items:

24-pack crayons

Glue sticks

Colored pencils & markers

Notebook paper (wide and college rule)

Composition notebooks (wide and college rule)

Thank you so much for joining in to support our kids.
