Do You Have Scars???

1 Comment/ 1556/ 0

Funny how sometimes I run across articles that really are kind of out there, isn’t it?  Yesterday I was doing my usual “reading the papers on line” thing in the morning and found an article by Tommy Tomlinson of the Charlotte Observer.  Now I have always read his columns and he is taking a new direction these days and I applaud what he is doing.  I have always been entertained by his observations and comments and encourage anyone to check out the Observer for what he has to offer.

Yesterday he posted about a website called The Human Project. The part that he particularly was highlighting was a segment entitled Scars.  It consists of several video presentations of folks talking about their scars and how they got them, how they view them, how they have affected their lives, etc.  I found it really intriguing and thought it was worthy to repost and pass on to my readers today.
It also made me think of my own scars. While none of mine are nearly as dramatic as the ones in the video clips I do have a couple that are memorable.  Of course the best one is my scar from the C-section that I had when I had Micah.  The poor little guy got stuck….just wouldn’t progress any more after a forever labor so I wear that one proudly and it does not show……I am WAY past bikini days….  The other one that I could really remember getting was the one on my knee.   I had a friend, another Beth as a matter of fact, come to visit me when we lived in New Concord.   We went for a bike ride and I had my brother Chris’s Spider bike with the banana seat and big handlebars.  Well, suffice it say that it was less than a reliable bike when going a break neck speed down a hill …….you guessed it.  I flipped over the handlebars when the front tire started wobbling out of control.   Not a pretty accident and a pretty scraped up knee.   Fortunately a guy in a pickup truck was around and hauled us both home where Medic Mom could make it all better.  But I still have that scar…..

So take a few moments and check out the following link. The last video was a little “graphic” and the guy used kind of potty language so you may not want to view that one (just warning you !!) but the others are worth looking at.  Makes you think, doesn’t it?  And as usual, if you have a scar that you would like to share about feel free to comment….Would love to hear YOUR stories!!!

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...
