Fingerprints on My Heart

4 Comments/ 37/ 0

If you look closely at that picture in the header of this blog post you might be able to see some fingerprints. I finally cleaned the doors today and all traces of those little fingerprints are gone but not from my memory as they will stay there forever. Fama and PopPops Summer Camp 2025 is in the books and it was a huge success but to say I am a little verklempt would be accurate.

We filled the days with lots of activities and fun and on the last night that Theo was here when I was giving him a bubble bath, he told me that he was really tired and just wanted to go to bed. I call that a win, don’ t you?

We started with finding all the statues in downtown Brevard on a very hot day.

.

.

.

One day we went to the Cradle of Forestry which was really a lot of fun and much cooler. Theo is not a fan of bugs, however.

.

.

.

Theo actually caught his first fish off our dock — a big catfish that unfortunately jumped off before we could get it on the dock but we still think it counts as first catch, don’t you?

.

.

We spent a day at the Western North Carolina Nature Center and that was a really fun day. We had never been there before and the hurricane ravaged the area but fortunately the animals were all okay and moved to other places until the Nature Center could take them back. It was the perfect size place to do in a few hours and our favorites were the bears and otters.

.

.

Another day we went to Flat Rock to go to Carl Sandburg’s home to see the goats . Theo is not a fan of tall grass but he soldiered on and was able to brush a bunch of goats including two babies – Anchovy and Sequoyah (I think).

.

.

.

Another fun activity was going to our park in our neighborhood for playground, fishing and playing in the sand and water.

.

.

You get the idea –even if you can’t see his face you know that fun was had by all and we miss him so much now. We are already making plans for Summer Camp 2026.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
