Fingers Crossed

6 Comments/ 677/ 1

This weekend my BFF Ann and I are going to have another girls trip to catch up and to do some fun things. Four years ago (almost to the date) we went on an adventure that turned out to be good but also weird. It was one of those trips when things just seemed off. The world seemed off kilter. I can’t really describe the feeling but there were multiple things that happened that weekend that made us both comment that things were weird.

We had gone to Mt. Juliet, Tennessee for a book signing done by Sean Dietrich of Sean of the South fame. Ann had introduced me to his writing and I became a huge fan of all things Sean and Jamie (his wife) Dietrich. The book signing was great and we got to listen to him speak, sing and play guitar, got hugs and books signed. It was fabulous. But again, things just seemed weird.

And then the world shut down. So maybe that weekend was just a predictor of the weirdness that was to come with the Covid 19 pandemic. Maybe these were the precursors to what was to come.

So this weekend we are meeting for the weekend to go see Sean again, this time in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Fingers crossed no weirdness occurs this time. I am sure there will be plenty of laughter and fun and hopefully pictures. If you haven’t checked out his work, make sure you follow him on Facebook for his daily posts which are heartwarming and touching and sometimes just the thing that I need to read.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

I loved this book! It had my interest from the very first page and was my "airplane" book on a recent trip. Author Mary Kubica created believable and interesting characters that the reader learned to identify with and care about. Mi...

All the Light We Cannot See

This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
