FIVE FIVE FIVE FIVE FIVE

47 Comments/ 4748/ 0

It is my blogaversary!!!!  5 years ago today I made my first post which consisted of the following:

So I am going to try this whole blog thing so that I can chronicle my life for you all. Of course that is going to take all of about 2 seconds but I thought with our exciting trip coming up it would be a good way to journal all of our exciting adventures. Let me know what you think!

Following that silly entry came an additional 1556 posts of varying nature—from our travels and life in Australia to a weekly teapot post to Wordless Wednesday offerings to devotions to Chrisism’s and more.  I have touched on a variety of topics including grief, moving, parenthood, marriage, current events and stories about my own foibles.  To say that I have found my voice is an understatement.  I have always loved the written word and reading and writing my thoughts down has always been a part of who I am but having a blog with real live “followers” has made it more real to me.  Thank you for reading and always giving me such positive feedback and comments.

My husband suggested I start a blog.  My son helped me get things organized and got me switched over from Blogger to WordPress a few years ago.  I have learned how to do a lot on my own that I never thought I would have a clue how to do.  I have stretched and for once in my life I have had the discipline to keep going.  This is one of the few things that I have stuck with in my life so I guess it is something that is worthwhile.

So thank you to all of you who have been with me for any part of the journey.  I am so glad you are here with me.  Without you my words would fall into the blogosphere and spin around emptily reaching none.  I am grateful for each of you!!!

Another thing I am grateful for is for Hilary and her Friday Blog Hop!!!  She tirelessly posts statements each week for us to use on our own blogs and this week is no different!!!

This week’s statements:
1. My first car was a _____
2. My___ is so ____
3. I would drop everything to _____
4. I never tell people I once.____

My Answers:

  1. My first car was a Reliant K Car—don’t ask.
  2. My craft closet  is so organized!
  3. I would drop everything to be with a family member or friend who needed me.
  4. I never tell people I once …well if I never tell people I certainly am not going to tell it here!!!!

Old Girls in Low Cotton
by Helen Childress
This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

The Good Girl
by Mary Kubica
I loved this book! It had my interest from the very first page and was my "airplane" book on a recent trip. Author Mary Kubica created believable and interesting characters that the reader learned to identify with and care about. Mi...

All the Light We Cannot See
by Anthony Doerr
This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

An Abundance of Katherines
by John Green
Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
