Good Eating

7 Comments/ 389/ 0

Who knew that the gift for 42 years of marriage is COVID? Well, apparently that is what our gift was this year which explains my absence from blogging for a few days while I claw my way back to health. I’m getting there but definitely not as quickly as I would like and I can’t help but feel like this summer has been spent not feeling the best but I will get there. Chris and I are both on the mend and I can’t wait till have full energy again.

I had planned to do a bunch of posts last week about our trip to Tennessee and that didn’t happen so bear with me while I play catch up. Today I am going to take it easy on all of us and just share some food pictures. We had some of THE best food on our trip and of course it was worthy of being photographed.

We are always on the lookout for crepe places and Knoxville did not disappoint with The French Market Creperie. I had the best blueberry crepe with a dollop of my beloved lemon curd on top and it was the perfect crepe.

.

The first night we were in Knoxville and it was pouring rain so we decided to just eat in the hotel restaurant and took advantage of their small plates. It was all yummy but my favorite was the fresh watermelon cucumber mint salad. I could have eaten my weight in this –it was so good. The skillet cornbread was also pretty delightful.

On our anniversary we walked to a fabulous place called St. John’s Restaurant in Chattanooga. We had an attentive and interesting waiter who kept us entertained and our meal was superb. I had THE best beet salad I have ever had (and I have had a lot over the years) and my trout was perfectly cooked and seasoned.

.

.

We both splurged on desserts and my Almond Joy fancy dessert was amazing.

.

Chris got a berry themed dessert and it was pretty delightful as well.

.

Our hotel in Chattanooga had some pretty great food as well and this yogurt breakfast still has my mouth watering.

.

Of course I have a lot more food pictures but I don’t want to make you guys too hungry so that is it for today. Have a great day and make someone smile today for me, will ya? Thanks.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
