It’s Very Pretty But….

24 Comments/ 76/ 0

It’s very pretty outside.

But it is also very dangerous.

I walked outside and it was eery.

Branches cracking off.  Falling from high in the trees and then being stopped by other branches.

Slippery pavement.

Iced over bird feeders.

Ice pellets collecting in clumps on wet ground.

Wind chimes covered in ice.

Trees split in various places leaving huge parts of themselves on the ground.

Nature is beautiful even in storms and destruction.

Limbs down everywhere magically missed hitting Chris’s car by mere inches.  We kept power this time and the only damage we can see so far is the corner of the gutters on the front porch.

Nature can be brutal even in lovely places like where we live but I still am able to find beauty in it.  How’s the weather in your area?  Tell me all about it in the comments and Comment for a Cause.

Yikes! I’m so glad you didn’t have major damage AND that you didn’t lose electricity. Just a windy, cold, rainy day for us.

We ended up coming out of this really well considering we live in the woods with some really huge trees. I am very grateful we kept power. I just was not excited about losing it again for some reason even though we were better prepared this time.

You captured some amazing images. Glad you are all OK. Be careful out there though. We don’t want any broken limbs.

Great advice and precisely why we did not tackle the big branch at the very top of our driveway yesterday. After I walked up there and slipped all over the place I told Chris it could wait. Plus it needs a chain saw so that will probably be today’s project unless the neighbors get to it before us.

If I’m keeping score correctly, it’s at least Weather 2 and Beth/Chris 0 this season. Yes, be careful! We had 4 fluffy inches of snow and plenty of sun.

Yes and it is only January 14! Time to move farther south? Or just suck it up? I try not to complain and think forward to the beautiful sunny days ahead!

Uh yes —your count appears to be accurate and I wish it was not so. I am thinking we are headed for a great spring since we are having such a cruddy winter.

I wondered how the storm affected you. Now I see in these impressive images. Be careful out there, my friend.

The weather in Minnesota is dreary with a cold front moving in this week. Snow is minimal.

Ice storms are fascinatingly beautiful and treacherous at the same time. Happy to hear you didn’t get any major damage. We received a couple inches of snow over the weekend and the sunshine is beautiful glittering across the yard of white.

Oh I bet your snow is really pretty. My sister in Ohio said they got about 4 inches of fluffy stuff and it is really pretty. I will see for myself next week when I go to visit.

Yikes! They are pretty, but for the wife of someone that works in the electrical industry they are never very fun. Hope it melts fast for you! We literally have no snow at our house, just cold. 🙂

Hey Jen! Welcome back to blogging. Can’t wait to see what you are going to be sharing. It has been a weird winter here so far. I will be happy to have spring come this year for sure.

WOW We have sunshine and 30 today. We didn’t get one bit of that storm, it all went south of us. I think I am glad. I hope things get cleaned up for you soon!

We had some sunshine today and we did manage to get the majority of the limbs picked up. Probably still need to saw some up and the driveway is littered with pine needles but the ice is gone. IT has not been a great winter here so far for some reason.

Thanks so much, Shirley. We managed to get away with little damage thank goodness and it is just cold now with no ice. It was crazy out there for awhile.

Wow. I forgot how things look allniced over… Glad you kept power and the car came away unscathed.
It’s gorgeous here right now. Beautiful blue skies and perfect South Florida winter temps in the mid to high 70’s. I can’t complain. 🙂

It is still so chilly out and heat pumps are useless in this kind of weather. We have been running our gas fireplace a lot, thank goodness we have one. I am headed to JAX on Thursday so hoping to have some warmer temps while I am there.

It is beautiful here in Arizona. High in the 70s today. My dog, Missy, and I went for a walk. However, when summer comes we have to finish our walk by 7:30am or it is too hot for her feet. We should have a beautiful spring this year because we actually have had a little rain.

Hope you and Chris continue to stay safe and warm inside.

We could use 70 degrees and sunny here. It is sunny but we have another cold snap coming. ugh. I am not a fan. That’s why we left Iowa!
