I am watching the Carolina / Ohio game on my laptop at Panera since I am traveling and without Internet and I decided that since I had not scheduled a post for Saturday ahead like I did the rest of the week I should takadvantage of my wifi and just do it! So here we go!
I spent a few days with my mom and had a great visit with her! I love to spend time with her and it does not happen often enough since I am in Iowa and she is in Ohio. But the visit was not without excitement. I got to my mom’s house in the retirement community on Monday afternoon and was going to bring in my suitcase so she followed me out. As I rounded thecorner of the car I saw it. And I was powerless to do anything. I was moving in slo mo but nothing could have prepared me for what was happening right in front of me. Somehow my mom fell and I could not get to her in time. She did, in fact, kiss concrete and it was not fun.
She was alert and able to talk to me but the blood…..oh the blood. Those of you who have followed me for awhile know that I do not do well with blood. Not at all! I usually faint at the tiniest blood letting but not this time because it was my mom and I had to take care of her. The good news is that she came out of it pretty well considering how bad it could have been. I won’t go into all of the gory details but after a visit from the on site nurse and a trip to the hospital for 3 stitches we settled in for the night. No broken bones but a pretty spectacular looking face were the end result.
I would not recommend concrete kissing for anyone but especially not for an octogenarian! I have to say that this is the first time I can remember in a long time that I have been scared, really scared! It was not a good feeling and one that I do not want to repeat ever. I am grateful I was there but truth be known I was most likely the reason she fell as she was talking to me and somehow fell. So I feel responsible for her colorful face now! So to my mom who is a faithful reader and follower—-I love you and am so grateful you are okay!!!!!
