Making a Difference–One Vote at a Time: Empower Native American Youth on the Rosebud Reservation | Pepsi Refresh Everything

Leave a Comment/ 1453/ 0

Sometimes you get a chance to make a difference and today I found out about something that I wanted to pass along to my friends!   Pepsi gives away tons of money in grants to folks who have good ideas!   Today I found out that our friends at the Rosebud Reservation in Mission, South Dakota have applied for one of these $25,000 grants in able to help fund the Sicangu Lakota Youth Center on the reservation.  Shane and Noella Red Hawk are two wonderful people who truly care about the youth in their community.   I had the honor and pleasure to meet them and do a little volunteer work there in February and my life was changed.   They are examples of what is right in the world.

Take a few minutes to click on the link below, go to the Pepsi website and read about Shane and Noella, view the pics and read the story.  But most importantly—VOTE!  Voting is until July 31st and you can vote daily.   I think you have to vote for different projects (in other words I don’t think that all 10 daily votes can go to one project) but regardless–check it out and vote.  There are many great ideas that just need funded.

Hats off to Shane and Noella for doing this and making a difference in the lives of the Lakota youth!

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
