Meredith and Aunt Beth’s Awesome Adventure!!!!

Leave a Comment/ 1407/ 0
I have had such a great couple of days!!! I took my 11 year old niece for a couple of days of auntie-niece time and we had a blast! We went to Columbus and spent the night —-ate our way through the 2 days, shopped, went swimming and today we went to the Columbus Zoo which was a lot of fun! We were expecting rain both days but decided to just “go for it” on Tuesday so with a stop at Walmart to get rain ponchos we were on our way. We never used them……but the $8 investment was what kept the rain away so well worth it! When we got to the zoo we were not allowed in as they were doing a “practice escaped animal capture” or some such thing…….they kept repeating to us that it was good practice for them in case it ever happened….all I know is that it was weird to have gotten there at opening time and not be allowed in for a half hour. Oh well. After we got in we had a great time. It was hot, hot, hot!!! Hit 95 degrees and in a zoo that is like 300 degrees I think!!! So we cooled off in the places where we could and tried not to melt in the sun!

Am posting a slide show of some of the pictures—I took a zillion. Well, maybe I am exaggerating a bit but I did take a lot!!! Not all of the animals were willing to be photographed but my favorites–the polar bears—were very photogenic today!!! Enjoy the show!!!

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
