My Great Find!

3 Comments/ 2010/ 0

You know how sometimes you find something that just gets you excited and makes you want to tell everyone about your great find?   Well—I have found it and if you are a friend of mine with a birthday coming up or some other occasion you can bet that this is what you are going to get!!!   So don’t go out and buy it!   Yet.   I am probably one of the last people to get on the bandwagon for this book but I love it!  To be honest with you I am not sure how I found out about it—I think that I was using BlogSurfer and came across it that way—that is a great site for finding blogs that you may not have hooked up with before, by the way.

But on to the book—-I have been the avid reader this summer—it has been great!  With my Kindle for traveling and the public library for borrowing I have plowed through quite a number of books lately.  Add to it friends and family who have contributed to the cause and I have quite a stack still to read. But it is all good!  So what I really did not need was another book to read but too bad—I am going to share with you which one I discovered!!!
It is a book called The Book of Awesome by Neil Pasricha.  And it is AWESOME!  In a nutshell it is a book with each chapter detailing some item or event or situation that the author deems awesome or something that makes you SMILE!  🙂   And you know that I am all about that!!!   Simple things like the first scoop of peanut butter out of the jar, popping bubble wrap, the parking lot pull through, finding money in the pocket of a coat you have not worn for awhile, celebrating your pet’s birthday even though they have no idea of what is going on…you get the idea.  All those ordinary things that if you stop and think about them make you smile.   I am so tired of the world focusing on the negative and how we are going to hell in a handbasket (sorry, Mother!).  It is nice to have a positive spin on things and this book does it.  Friday it was announced on their website that there would be a second book coming out! All I can say is AWESOME!!!!! Definitely worth a read, a gift book for my friends and a great thing to pick up when all seems gloomy!

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
