Peanuts Around Town – Part 2

25 Comments/ 6859/ 2

If you recall I have connections to Dothan, Alabama.  My husband took a position with a company there in January 2015 and we currently have a home that we rent there that he stays in when he is not traveling around or in Iowa with me.  I go to visit occasionally and at one point we thought we would buy a house in Dothan but that plan has changed.  Over the years I have learned to go with the flow when it comes to moving. After all in the past year I thought I would live in Texas, Alabama and the reality of the fact is that now I will be moving to North Carolina.  So you can see that sometimes I get confused about where I am.

One of the really fun things about Dothan is their love of all things peanuts. I stopped in at the Dothan CVB on one of my first weeks in Dothan and picked up a lot of information including their Peanuts Around Town map.  I introduced you to their Peanuts Around Town back in March and shared a few of the ones I had the opportunity to photograph.  My trips to Dothan have been limited but I have found a few more to share with you today.

The first one is obviously in front of the UPS facility and I love how he has everything from package to scanner at his ready.

nokiThe Military Nuts located outside of the Tuffy business is high on my list of favorites to date.  Who doesn’t love all things military, including nuts?

hooterspeanutbackI will be spending more time in Dothan in the sweltering summer days while we are between houses so I hope to be able to get out and get some quality photos taken of the peanuts that I have missed.  One that I am anxious for is the unveiling and installation of the Dancin’  Dave Peanut.  I first heard about Dancin’ Dave from a seat mate on a flight from Dothan to Atlanta.  She told me I had to see him and follow his Facebook page.  After I clicked on it and read a bit about this man I agreed.  So that is my quest.  To actually meet and have a picture taken with Dancin’ Dave sometime.  He is an area icon and I think this video will show you a bit of that personality.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
