Peeking Out of My Shell

8 Comments/ 405/ 0

That’s me –in that photo at the top of the post.

That turtle is me.

Both Chris and I have had our second Covid-19 vaccinations and although we are not quite to the two week timeframe following the second shot I am peeking out of my shell a little bit.

We have been oh so very careful as have many of our friends and loved ones. It has been a very long year and I can see you all nodding your heads. I was not willing to take chances with my health or the health of others so I refrained from a lot of activities that others were doing.

They might have been perfectly fine but for me they weren’t and that is what I had to go with. I tried to not be too judgmental and failed many times.

This past week I ate in a restaurant for the first time since last March. It was weird. The servers were all masked, the room we were in only held 3 tables with seating for 2 at each. It was clean and sanitized and safe. But it still felt very odd. More on that visit tomorrow on the blog — it’s tea related after all.

Next week we will be at the beach again but this time we plan to find some places to eat outside at. The weather will be great and I am anxious for someone else to cook for me and serve me. But it is still a weird feeling, you know? I just kind of became a hermit for the past year.

The other thing is that I am in planning mode now. A BFF trip with Ann in May, a sister trip in June with Paula, a trip to New Jersey to visit and baby sit Theo, and finally a trip to Ohio in September to finally celebrate the life of my mom with family and friends followed by a wonderful week in my beloved Lakeside with all the family. It feels good to be able to plan a few things and be excited about being with those I love.

Have you been in a planning mode like me? Have you been able to safely gather with family and friends? Does it feel odd to you like it does to me? I would love to hear all about it in the comments so please Comment for a Cause for Ohio Guidestone.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

I loved this book! It had my interest from the very first page and was my "airplane" book on a recent trip. Author Mary Kubica created believable and interesting characters that the reader learned to identify with and care about. Mi...

All the Light We Cannot See

This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
