Remembering All Saints

8 Comments/ 2220/ 0

This past Sunday at a lot of churches like our own, we remember those who have passed during the year. The tradition includes reading of the names of those who have died during the year as well as the ringing of a bell or come after each name. We sing the hymn For All the Saints and reflect upon the gifts that these loved ones had and their impact on our lives. Of course it always reminds me of attending services at East Ohio Annual Conferences at Lakeside, Ohio over the years and participating in their worship service where pastors and spouses and lay people were recognized in this way. There is nothing like hearing Hoover Auditorium filled to the max with all joined together in singing For all the Saints.

This past Sunday there was an added inclusion in our bulletin as well as the list of names of our church members who are now in the church triumphant. This time the following names were included.

.

As I read the names listed above I teared up because it is still such a sad thing to realize that these are lost lives with more yet to be uncovered from the mud and debris from Hurricane Helene. We are still in recovery mode and will continue to be in recovery mode. As Asheville regains water it is still evident that the water is not “good” water as it is brown. Many are still seeking showers and laundry facilities elsewhere. It’s going to take a long time.

Please continue to keep the families of these lost ones and those who are continuing to work tirelessly to keep things moving on the road to recovery in your prayers. It’s going to be a long road.

Comments for a Cause this month will go towards relief efforts for Hurricane Helene. Thank you as always for your comments and for joining me here at It’s Just Life.
