Every now and then I like to share what I have been reading, watching, listening to, etc. Today is the day to do a quick recap. First up—what I’ve been reading.

Reading

I just finished a couple of books while we were at. the beach.

.

I finished Bear by Julie Phillips. I picked this one up in our Connestee Falls Library and was attracted to it because of the subject matter – a bear. Of course. It was an okay read. Not one that I would want my own copy of to hold onto. Not sure why but it didn’t wow me.

.

.

I also read and finished The Briar Club by Katie Quinn. This one I borrowed from my friend Beth because she had raved about it. It was GOOD! There were so many twists and surprises and I really loved it. It was one of those hard to put down books so it was good the weather was less than spectacular at the beach.

Podcasts

Of course I always have to tune into listen to my friends Jean and Laura at OK Boomer Always funny and witty with a touch of science, math and beauty and fashion tips thrown in by Laura and inspirational and literary info by Jean this podcast always has me giggling and smiling. What’s not to love about boomers talking about all things boomer?

.

I love podcasts about a variety of things but one of my favorites are crime and prison related podcasts. I recently listened to Letters from Sing Sing and really enjoyed it.

.

Listening

I don’t listen to a lot of regular radio stations (although we did when we were under the spell of Hurricane Helene) but I do like to listen to music when I am driving. Favorite stations on Sirius XM include Classic Vinyl and The Message.

Watching

We are always watching some show together. Recently we have been watching Shrinking on Apple TV. I really like it a lot and the acting is spectacular.

Another show I just finished watching was Troppo. It is set in Australia and is about a disgraced cop who was wrongly accused of something. The entire series is fascinating to me because it is set in Far North Queensland and having lived in Queensland for a year it makes me remember some of our times there. Of course it is not anything like our life there but it is fun to hear the speech and be reminded of some of the things that we experienced while we were there.

.

So what have you been watching, reading or listening to? Let me know and come back next week for a very belated Comments for a Cause reveal. See you Monday!

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
