Rude Awakening!

Leave a Comment/ 1058/ 0

Today we woke to the door bell ringing….now most mornings we are usually awake but for once we were both sound asleep at 5:50 a.m. Chris looked at me. I looked at him. “Was that the doorbell? What time is it?” Since I was the more dressed of the two of us I was drafted to go answer it. Threw on my glasses and stumbled to the door. Police woman …….never a good sign at that time of the day!
“Good morning, ma’am. Is John here?”
“There is no one by that name that lives here.”
Checks notepad.
Jonnie J………….(name I DID recognize)
“Uh…..he is not here. He used to rent the house from us.”
“Do you know where he is or how I can get hold of him?”
“No, not really. ……”
And so the conversation continued with me being much less than clear about things—I was still a little sleep addled. What I did find out is that he was listed as the emergency contact for an employee of the company that rented the house from us and there had been an accident. Not sounding real good at this point and I quite honestly could not help as I did not have any contact information for anyone else in the company and I knew that Jonnie had moved out well over a year ago and moved to a different state. So……I gave her our realtor’s name and phone (Sorry, Wayne) since he was the one who had the last phone number for one of the guys and told her they had a hub based out of Manly and if all else failed they could probably raise someone there who could help. A very strange way to start the day and I am thinking that it is going to be bad news for someone today. 🙁

The sun FINALLY came out today. Figures—the day I leave town! Expecting the hubby at any moment so we can wing our way southward to the good ole heat and humidity of North Carolina–join the rest of the family in celebrating Aaron’s graduation bright and early tomorrow at 9 am at the RBC Center in Raleigh. So proud of him and happy that he has a job, an apt., and is starting a new part of his life!!! Add to it an extended stay for me to catch up with all my NC friends and I am over the moon!

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
