Sea, Sand, Food and Family = Perfect Birthday Celebration

38 Comments/ 399/ 1

There are a few things that make the perfect day for me.

Spending time with my family and friends.

Being at the beach.

Sunshine and clear skies.

Good food.

When all of these converge into one single day you can imagine that my day is complete.

Wendy, Micah, Penny and me at Hunting Beach

Penny the Beach Corgi

I am feeling so blessed these days and this past weekend as my immediate family gathered for some time together at Fripp Island you had better believe I was counting my blessings.

The best shrimp and grits I have ever had and I have had a lot over the years was at Saltus River Grill in Beaufort, SC. YUM!

My photographer thought it lined up so I was holding the lighthouse up but in actuality it just looks silly.

Thanks to all of you who have extended birthday wishes to me.  I had a wonderful birthday weekend filled with all of the above things.  The bonus was a fundraiser I promoted on Facebook for my birthday in honor of my brother in law, Carlton.  I chose the National Down Syndrome Society and actually raised $558 from family and friends through my birthday fundraising efforts.  Isn’t that amazing?  Thanks to all who donated.

We did family activities like using face masks…

We wore Miss Penny out with all the beach walking and romping around.

The beach, any beach, is a special place for me.  It provides a place to walk, get some exercise, enjoy some sunshine and if I am lucky find some seashells to add to my collection.  This trip has had the added bonus of having all of us together in one place.  That has not happened since the first part of December so you can imagine that this Mama is very happy.

I am in my happy place, counting my blessings and enjoying time with my dear husband who made this all possible.  I am indeed a blessed woman.  And I know it.   I think it shows, don’t you? Or maybe it was that mask.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
