Take a Deep Breath

34 Comments/ 847/ 0

Go ahead.

Do it.

Take a deep breath.

Wednesday was one of those days that I had to take a few deep breaths. Actually more than a few deep breaths.

An incident happened, once again, where disrespect was shown. Not necessarily to me as an individual but to someplace where I volunteer. I get miffed when supposed adults seem to think that the rules do not apply to them. I ranted a bit and then addressed the issue as best as I could but honestly, when adults act like children it gets me riled up and that doesn’t happen often.

Take a deep breath.

We have been trying to get my mom’s gravestone engraved. Remember she passed away in December 2020. Yes, COVID backed a lot of things up, I get that. I really do. We didn’t do her service until September 2021 and I was assured that it would be taken care of soon after we had the service.

Guess what? July 2023 and it still is not done. As I viewed the stone on our recent trip to Ohio it just made me mad and sad because I was the one who went with her to preplan her funeral. We were assured all would be taken care of. Well, no.

My brother had been the executor and handled all of this type of stuff and I totally trust him. He followed up and made call after call and was assured it would be done. At one point he was told they did not have the tools to do it…

Since I actually saw that it was still undone I decided to take the matter into my own hands. I sent a scathing email to the powers that be and asked for a reply within 24 hours.

Crickets.

So Wednesday I made.a phone call and talked to a man at the funeral home that did her service and managed to get some degree of satisfaction. AFTER I provided him with a picture of the stone, a phone number for a local granite engraving company and the cemetery contact info where the gravesite is. He asked me to draw a map and I am not doing that because I think it should be their job to find the site. He apologized for this falling through the cracks and I expressed my displeasure for the engraving not being done and for not getting any response back from the other two people I contacted. He was truly sorry and I know it isn’t his fault at all and appreciated his apology.

Guess what? The granite company is on vacation until July 25th so I guess a few more weeks won’t matter much now, will it?

So I took more deep breaths.

Our sweet grandson does a yoga chant that I love. This is what I am practicing…

Rub your hands.

Sit up tall.

Take a deep breath. (take breath)

Om.

There are days, aren’t there?

Take a deep breath.
