Take a look at this picture. It may be a little difficult to read but try.

One of my best volunteer jobs is helping out in our neighborhood library. It is the least stressful volunteer job I have ever had and our library is managed and maintained by a team of 20 + Library Angels. We take turns checking on it and reshelving books on a rotating schedule. Yesterday when I went in to straighten things up and process returns I found this little note in our supplies basket.
Poor Parker had a “book incident” and as a result he had to write a note and donate two books to replace the one he damaged. Now I can’t begin to imagine what happened to that book –maybe he drew in it. Maybe he accidentally ripped it. Maybe he spilled something on it . All I know is that his parents felt the need to teach him the consequences of his actions. I loved the note and the sweet spirit in which it was written. I hate to think that Parker had a bad day because of the book incident and if I ever meet him in person I will definitely thank him for that donation.
Our community is diverse and growing in how many children actually live here. When we moved here 9 years ago there were hardly any children and it was primarily a 55 + community. We were the young ones. But as things change we are seeing a lot more younger families move in and call Connestee Falls home and it is pretty neat. We have a super active Kids Club now that offers a lot of activities for the younger set and I’d like to believe they feel welcomed. Our library is in the exciting time of preparing for a move to a new to us space and we hope to have a dedicated kids area with more books and activities geared to that age group. It’s exciting. I hope Parker will continue to use our library and learn to respect books as well as love them.
All I know is that I am Team Parker now. I need to meet him, don’t you think?
