This year I have loved being able to enjoy the sounds of Christmas. Music is my connection to so many things and at Christmas time I am drawn to all of the music that celebrates the season.
Chris and I were part of the Mountain Choral Ensemble at Connestee again this year and we had 4 different performances. Three of those were at the clubhouse and one was at the retirement community of College Walk located in Brevard. It was fun to celebrate the season with singing and we had some great songs to perform. Our group numbered just under 60 members including our small orchestra and the reception we got after each performance was so affirming.
Another special series during the holiday season is an organ series sponsored by our church. We have a beautiful organ and the church sponsors three separate concerts during the month of December. Chris and I usually only make it to one of them but the one we made it to this year was by our own organist and it was spectacular. What talent.

The next “sounds of the season” came through a magnificent Messiah sing a long at St. Philips Episcopal Church. We absolutely love to visit this church –it is beautiful inside and out and we know a lot of the members. It is always welcoming and this special event was sold out for both performances. Chris and I had our music on our iPads and sang the choruses when instructed. We all joined in on the Hallelujah Chorus and it brought back fond memories of going to hear performances with my dad. He sang in several performances of The Messiah during his life and it was always a special thing for him. I guess my sister and I both carry that tradition on.

Finally, our church choir performed the annual cantata and it was splendid as always. There is just something about hearing the music proclaiming the good news to get me in the spirit of Christmas. What a blessing.

Do you have any special music performances that help make Christmas more meaningful to you? I would love to hear about them so leave me a comment and tell me all about them. Happy Christmas Eve!
