Unexpected Inspiration

6 Comments/ 372/ 0

Inspiration can be found in some of the most unexpected places. On a recent hike on the Perry N. Rudnick Nature and Public Art Trail in Hendersonville, North Carolina, I discovered a carefully sheltered spot of inspiration.

Tucked away from the elements, posted on the door of a community building, this display gave me inspiration and hope.

It wasn’t fancy or showy.

Simple in purpose and a great visual of how often a simple reminder to pray is all that is needed to share the needs that are on our hearts.

The two poster board signs taped to the glass had me looking and praying. This site is used by the YMCA and I suspect this was a project that sprang out of that ministry but it caught my eye and my heart.

Some of the “prayers” are not typical prayers but they were what were on the hearts of these kids. But the one below….gutted me.

I have not been able to get this one off my mind and heart in the past couple of weeks and yes – I have been praying that that child gets a wonderful adoptive family. Another request asked for a safe foster home. My heart broke. While I sit here in my little bubble there are children who are worried about being safe. How can that be?

So while I was inspired by this display of prayers I was also brought to my knees and reminded that prayers are needed so much more than ever before. We live in a complicated world right now but no child should ever have to worry about being safe. So to these young campers – I am praying that all your prayer requests are heard and answered. I know in my heart that they are heard.
