Was This Only Last Month?

12 Comments/ 336/ 0

I do NOT know where the past 6 weeks have gone. I really don’t. In a blink of an eye here we are in the middle of October. I have been slack here posting on the blog but that’s okay – I have been busy doing other things and since I don’t get paid (except in your fabulous comments) I don’t really have to stress out about missing a few posts here and there. Whew. What a relief. After all, this is a recreational blog, right?

I was reflecting on what has happened in the past month and one of the best things was our trip to Ohio to spend time at my happy spot, Lakeside Ohio. The best thing about this trip is that it is spent with family. My siblings, their spouses and whomever else can make it have made this an annual event and the past 4 years we have joined together in September post season when things are quieter there. We had a fabulous house with a great view of Lake Erie from the front porch and I think it is fair to say we all enjoyed the week immensely. I continue to be so happy that my family does this and makes it a priority when there are so many other things pulling all of us in different directions.

.

A trip to Lakeside is not complete without a trip to Marblehead Lighthouse where we always snap a bunch of pictures just like the ones we took the year before. And the year before that. And the year before that.

.

This year we found the brick I had purchased for Chris for Christmas. So fun when places do things like this.

.

Of course it was a beautiful day and I sat on the rocks and watched these guys fish for awhile.

.

The buckeyes were everywhere and since it is the state tree of Ohio it seemed appropriate to take a picture.

.

There is a place between Marblehead and Lakeside that I have to visit yearly as well. They have a wool shop and the sheep are there to talk to and pet. I woke them up this year and then they were disappointed that I had nothing to feed them. They used to have a feed station that you could purchase feed for them but it was gone this year.

.

This one has 3 horns.

.

.

As always, the sunsets do not disappoint in Lakeside and we were there one night when there was an amazing Harvest Moon (I think that was what it was) that we were able to see over Lake Erie. What a beautiful sight.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
