Waterfall Wednesday – Key Falls

7 Comments/ 663/ 0

It’s funny how sometimes the easiest things to do are the things that take the longest to accomplish. Case in point – walking to Key Falls. We finally did it last week. Only took us almost 9 years to view one of the easiest hikes to a waterfall in the county of over 250 waterfalls.

We had reservations with Aaron and Erin for dinner at The Pavilion at Key Falls outside of Brevard for Friday night and drove the 25 minutes or so and arrived early for our reservation. Their internet was not working at all and they had hopes of getting it up by the time of our reservation so we decided to walk the .02 miles to the waterfall that is located on their private property. They are very agreeable to allowing people view it provided they respect the area.

.

The hike was easy but it was so humid with another storm on the horizon so we walked as quickly as we could to the viewing area.

.

It’s a beautiful waterfall but as you can see from the pictures, the water was not flowing too vigorously. We definitely need to visit again sometime after a big storm because I have seen pictures that are much more magnificent.

.

The waterfall is a very accessible, thanks to the owners of the Inn, who allow folks to park in the parking lot of the inn and walk to the falls. There is an access road as well that takes cars right past the waterfall but always remember that this is a private waterfall and respect must be shown for that access.

As for that dinner? It was not to be. We were seated and then told after we had chosen our food that they were closing since their internet was down. We went to another restaurant, got seated and got our food an hour after we ordered because they had a fryer down apparently. It was not a good night for restaurants but the good thing was the company we were in.
