I have always been fascinated by Joanna and Chip Gaines and their story. Their Fixer Upper show was one that I loved to watch and they just have a good back story, in my humble opinion. I recently listened to Joanna’s latest book, The Stories We Tell, and enjoyed learning more of her story. I think she and Chip have a pretty amazing story and I admire their ability to guard their family life and keep things as low key as they can. Or at least it appears that they are able to maintain a good balance.
But I have always been intrigued by the empire they have built in Waco, Texas and wanted to visit The Silos. My husband, being the fabulous guy that he is, set up a trip to go for a long weekend and I was so happy to be able to take that little trip.

The complex is beautifully manicured and maintained and every single person we encountered was just over the top nice. It was refreshing. There were a lot of women there and Chris was definitely in the minority but he was happy to indulge me. The silos are the focal point of the complex, of course, and pretty much dominate the area but what the Gaines have done is really revitalize a section of Waco and done a really great job of it.

We started out with coffee at Magnolia Press and planned out our morning. The coffee and chocolate croissant were a fabulous way to start the day and we took them outside and enjoyed them in the courtyard.
.
Every single shop that we went into was bright, clean, and had well thought out displays. Totally can see Joanna’s handprint on every single thing that we saw and I loved it.

I loved this setting — the only thing that would make it better would be if there was a teapot instead of a pitcher.
I missed the memo about the book signing that was being held but if you look closely you can see Joanna signing books behind me.
A closer look.
Come back tomorrow for more Magnolia love. Have you ever visited? I would love to hear about it in the comments — Comment for a Cause for AAUW Brevard Branch Scholarships.
