Wordless Wednesday Goes to the Birds

He flew into the yard.

He popped up onto one of my “deer” and I hurried to take a shot.  A little blurry but he looked so adorable sitting on there pecking away.

Finally I could focus in and got a decent shot of my friend the pileated woodpecker.

What’s outside your window today?

Great shots of the woodpecker. We have some in the orchard across from us but I never see them up close.

Those are such neat birds, and usually so shy! I had one in my yard 3 years ago for a few moments. Wonderful that you got a picture, he’s so cute on your dear, the deer, poor thing, is minus a few brain cells once the woodpecker left!

Cool. They are so prehistoric. Very close relative of the (perhaps extinct) ivory-billed woodpecker…
