1. I have missed baking. Today I made both a rhubarb strawberry crisp and rhubarb cookies.  The only problem is  I am the only one in the house.  A

2. If you are able to keep up with me and what is going on in my life you are amazing.  Remember when I was moving to Texas?  And it didn’t happen?  Then remember I was moving to Alabama?  And it kind of happened but not really?  Well now I am moving to North Carolina.  Yep.  Our house in Mason City has a contract on it and things are moving right along for a closing date here in late July.  This past weekend Chris and I put a contract on a house in North Carolina. Now I never say things are a done deal until all the money has changed hands and all the i’s are dotted and t’s crossed but it looks like it is going to happen.  We basically were able to choose where we wanted to live because Chris is not tied to a certain location and just needs to be close to an airport.  Kind of like retirement.  But not.Back of house

3. Buddy and Holly are going to go live with their “Uncle” Aaron in Raleigh during the transition time.  I got kitty valium today as I do not look forward to driving 2 full days with cats in the car meowing pitifully.

4. My good friend Jeni from JeniEats is also moving –to St. Louis.  Two of the original North Iowa Bloggers are moving on and out of Iowa.  We have a bucket list of things to do before we move and we are calling it our #FarewellTour2015.  I am ticking things off.  I am going to really miss this group.  A lot.

5. Today I got my teeth cleaned, got a goodbye hug from my dentist, had a plumber come to check the sump pump, jumped in for a bit on a Twitter chat, had the buyers’ realtor come to take room measurements, did some baking,  took my Subaru in for its  first oil change and tire rotation and I started cleaning out dressers and my closet.  The rain came and went and the sun is shining.  What’s going on in your world?

Old Girls in Low Cotton
by Helen Childress
This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

I loved this book! It had my interest from the very first page and was my "airplane" book on a recent trip. Author Mary Kubica created believable and interesting characters that the reader learned to identify with and care about. Mi...

All the Light We Cannot See
by Anthony Doerr
This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

An Abundance of Katherines
by John Green
Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
