Beach Glimpses

10 Comments/ 415/ 0

Chris and I are enjoying a post vaccine vacation in the Outer Banks. Let me tell you – there is just such a sense of relief and happiness that we both are fully vaccinated. This trip is our usual annual birthday trip to a beach. Normally the family is with us but this year we are on our own and while I miss them terribly it just was not going to work this year. I love how Chris always tries to make my birthday perfect.

The place we are staying is deserted which is one of the reasons we like to make the trip at this time. It is post spring break and before summer madness. The place we are staying has 12 units and we are the only ones here. It is wonderful.

We are right on the beach and wake up every morning to a view out the windows of the mighty Atlantic rocking and rolling. I fall asleep to the sound of the waves and wake up to the sound of the waves. It is my happy place indeed.

We have enjoyed walks on the beach, visiting some historic places, taking in some local sights and have eaten some pretty wonderful food. All safely. People here still are adhering to masking up inside and that gives me comfort as well. This virus is still around and with the news from India I am praying that strain does not cross into the US.

Suffice it to say it has been a very good week. We have enjoyed time together, beautiful weather and beautiful scenery. We are making some of those perfect day memories and I am very grateful.

What has your week been like? Anything special happen? How’s your weather? Rainy? Sunny? Tell me all about in the comments and Comment for a Cause for Hospice of the Valley.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

I loved this book! It had my interest from the very first page and was my "airplane" book on a recent trip. Author Mary Kubica created believable and interesting characters that the reader learned to identify with and care about. Mi...

All the Light We Cannot See

This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
