Birthday Musings

23 Comments/ 115/ 1

Today’s my birthday! My family and friends always make me feel really special on my special day and it sometimes seems to stretch on for a week or more which is kind of nice, isn’t it? As I get older I don’t really “need” anything at all. Of course there are things that catch my eye that I think I would like to have but really – what I want the most? Time with family and friends.

Fortunately for me we are able to do just that and next week will be my traditional birthday beach trip with the family. Time away with my family is THE best gift ever. I am feeling incredibly blessed.

One of the things that I am truly excited about as this year moves on is the fact that the Brevard branch of AAUW that I belong to is going to be installing a new Little Free Library. It is going to be going in a neighborhood in Brevard and will be part of the new Mary C. Jenkins Community Center in the Rosenwald area of Brevard. I can not wait to see our LFL be installed and become a part of the community.

We are looking for books that will share the cultural diversity of the area and that will celebrate the uniqueness of each person who is able to visit the library. If you want to be a part of this endeavor and celebrate my birthday I would ask you to consider going to our Amazon Wish List and purchasing a book that can ship directly to me to be included. Or visit your local independent book store and purchase there. The direct link to our Amazon list is here.

When I ship books online the minimum price has to be $11.50 altogether (book, shipping, and Paypal fees). For those who are going to be close enough to meet in real life, the price per book is $1. Just a thought, for those who want to stock their favorite Little Free Library, charity store, etc.
