Comments for a Cause – A Bit of Nostalgia

16 Comments/ 651/ 0

Welcome to February! Yes, that deserves an exclamation mark. We are well on our way into 2021 and what a year we are hoping it will be. Life has been…interesting… to say the least. We all just need to hold on tight, push forward and do what we need to do to make 2021 the best it can be.

Of course I am not going to let up on the Comments for a Cause on It’s Just Life. It is a great way to share some causes that are close to my heart and new places to highlight. This past month I did a personal cause as I selected one that meant something to my mother.

The Copeland Oaks Life Care Fund was something that she supported for many years and in a nutshell it helps provide funds for residents of Copeland Oaks to stay there even if their assets run out. While my mother was able to stay there without needing this assistance it gave her great peace of mind that it was available and she always donated to the fund. This month Chris and I are happy to donate $200 (rounded up a bit) to their fund in my mother’s memory due to the comments left on the blog during the month. As always, thank you.

Hannibal United Methodist Church

My mother had a pretty extensive list of charities and organizations that she contributed to over the years. I discovered a list not too long ago and decided that this year I would honor her memory by sharing a few of her favorites as Comments for a Cause recipients. The first one I decided to support is Hannibal United Methodist Church in Hannibal, Ohio.

Hannibal is a very small town in Monroe County and currently has a population of just over 450. It was the first place I remember living as I lived there from the time I was a few months old until I was 8. There are a lot of memories associated with Hannibal and all of them come flooding back when I look at this picture of the church above.

I wrote about the parsonage we lived in a while back and the many memories that I have associated with that house as well. You can read that post here.

Hannibal United Methodist Church was quite an important part of my childhood and had a lot of wonderful people that helped mold my early years. I am grateful for that and am happy to feature a wonderful little church as my Comments for a Cause recipient this month. For each comment made on any blog post during the month Chris and I will make a 50 cent donation to the church that meant a great deal to my family. As always, thank you for your support and for showing up and leaving comments here on It’s Just Life.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
