Comments for a Cause- Giving to Uvalde

9 Comments/ 234/ 0

It’s June! Wow! Summer has arrived in Brevard, NC and this weekend we will be celebrating with the White Squirrel Festival. After a two year hiatus due to COVID we are happily embracing the wonderful outdoor festival filled with music, vendors, food and fun. It is sure to be a great weekend and the town is hopping already this week.

But as my readers know the beginning of the month is dedicated to Comments for a Cause here on It’s Just Life so that is what we are all about today. This past month we focused on mental health and our cause to support was American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. This is a wonderful organization that has so many resources available for folks to access and I was thrilled to find out a little bit about them over the past month.

Chris and I are happy to report that due to your comments and following this blog we will be making a donation of $120 to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention for their efforts. As always we thank you for your willingness to stop by, read and comment.

Of course everyone’s minds are on Texas this week, after the horrible shootings at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. I simply have no words as I indicated in an earlier post. I know that there are a lot of great organizations that are doing all that they can to support the community at this time and I had to narrow it down to one. After much research and thought I decided that this month our Comments for a Cause would be the Uvalde Victims Relief Fund which is being administered by University Health.

The Uvalde Victims Relief Fund will be used to support the families while their loved ones are at University Hospital following the tragic shooting at Robb Elementary School on May 24, 2022. These donations will be used to cover any unpaid medical expenses, lodging, food and other needs identified by our social workers. Any unspent funds after they are discharged from the hospital will be donated to Uvalde charities involved in the ongoing relief efforts.

Regardless of how much money is raised the unspent funds will be donated to all of the charities in Uvalde that are involved in ongoing relief efforts. That seems like a win win to me. The money will be used where it is needed most.

If you are interested in donating to this charity on your own this underlined link will take you directly to their donation page where you can donate securely on line.

As always, thank you in advance for your continued support in our efforts to highlight some worthwhile causes on It’s Just Life. We are so blessed to be able to do this and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

It’s so hard to decide where to donate to since there are so many different sites set up – I had to do some research myself to decide. So sad that yet again, we are donating to victims of gun violence and innocent lives lost. 😢

Each thought creates a nice ripple. I am following along with Why am I Here. John Skipper’s book allows me to focus on why am I truly here and what are my priorities.
