I grew up with a father who loved to listen to birds and identify them. I remember him having binoculars to check them out and to try to identify them in our yard. I have always have bird feeders around and enjoyed seeing them even if I could not identify them. I do not have any feeders up now, largely due to bears, and I do miss them but it does not mean the birds are gone.
The other day I was sitting on our newly assembled deck furniture ( a nice spruce up on our back deck) and was just thinking about how many different birds I could hear but did not know who they were. I didn’t see a lot of them but they were noisy so I used my handy dandy Merlin Bird ID app on my phone.
So these are just a few of the birds that were close enough to pick up on the app. It’s a really great tool to try to determine what you are hearing or seeing. I would highly recommend it and it is easy to identify by sound or by sight with this app. You can learn more about this Cornell Lab sponsored app by clicking here.
I am not the only one who likes the birds….
