I love mottos. There are some really fabulous mottos out there for different things. Some common ones include:
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
The way to get started is to stop talking and start doing.
Dreams come true.
Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
Don’t be perfect. Be you. ( I could have used this one as a teenager.)
If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.
The list goes on and on. Chris and I spent a leisurely day last week exploring some parts of South Carolina. It is part of our “make every day count” campaign that we have put into place in 2023. We are definitely not sitting around doing nothing and our calendars show that. It’s a good thing to be able to do this while we can.
We visited the South Carolina Botanical Gardens which are on the grounds of Clemson University. We stopped in the visitor’s center to get a map and a feel for the place and saw this quote on the mantel.
Thankfully for non Latin speakers/readers like me they had a note as to what it meant.
Simply: While I breathe I hope.
I love South Carolina’s state motto and am fully onboard with embracing that as my own motto. I think it is a pretty great way to live life.
It made me think about how we all have mottos that we live by. I would love to hear what your personal motto is if you have one.
