Family is important.
Being the youngest of 4 siblings I realize just how important it is to have good strong relationships with siblings.
One gift our parents gave us was the gift of strong family ties.
It’s been a little odd the past month. For so long we were held together by our mother. We, The Village, would text and email and call often to make sure things were being done for her and to make sure that she was okay. Then suddenly, she was gone, and our focus shifted to making sure things were done to celebrate her life. 9 months after her death we did just that and now I must admit that I feel a little bit at loose ends.
All of those tasks that are associated with making sure things were perfect for the Celebration of Life are over. She’s really gone.
I am realizing, once again, that it is up to us to keep the family ties strong and intact.
I am realizing that I miss them more than I thought I could. I spent a few days with my sister last week and it wasn’t nearly long enough visit. But the truth of the matter is that we all live far apart from one another and getting together physically is tough. But our goal is to have a week together yearly at Lakeside and celebrate family.
Today I am feeling a little melancholy, perhaps, but that’s okay. I am blessed with a strong family. Brothers and a sister who love one another and who will always be there for me. I am grateful. What are you grateful for today?
