Flying in Style – Delta One

14 Comments/ 90/ 0

My Mr. Diamond treats me so well.  On our recent trip to Croatia and France he decided we needed to go in style.  Thank goodness for all of those airline miles that he accumulates for work travel.

The flight we chose to get to Europe was a direct Raleigh to Paris flight –just a bit over 8 hours.  We left around 5 pm and got to Paris by breakfast time to catch our next short flight to Zagreb.

The first class cabin on these flights is called Delta One and the service was impeccable.  We had the same steward on both our flight there and home- John- and he was so great to make sure that we had everything we needed.

We started our trip with a nice champagne toast to Micah and Wendy and all of the wedding festivities.  As you can see we had tons of room in our seat area.

These controls allow the passenger to totally recline after take off.  It was amazing.  I may never want to fly any other way again.  Of course our space included a full size pillow and a comforter which kept me comfy while I watched movies.  I think I watched a total of 6 movies on both the flight there and back.

How about that leg room?

Of course with a long flight comes food.  This did NOT disappoint and someone commented it did not look like airline food.  Nope.  Not at all.  A menu with a choice of entree was almost like being in a restaurant.

Just look at this selection.

Coming home we were pretty worn out and tired but oh so happy.  Leaving Paris was easier because this was the view out my taxi window on the way to the airport.

Another selfie for the memory book.  Notice Chris’s jaunty new hat? And beard.  🙂  Post wedding look.

I dug out my comfy slippers that my friend Ann gave me and they did the trick on this flight to keep my feet just the right temperature.

The food on the flight home was yummy as well.  I feel like our entire trip was a gastronomical delight.  We ate so well.

We had such an amazing time.  Flights are easy when you travel in style and I am so grateful that we were able to do it this way this time.  It was so much easier than those long flights to Australia where we were all cramped in with no room.  It really made me appreciate Chris’s travel even more and grateful that he could use some of those miles to allow us to have THE perfect travel experience.  Having priority status helps in so many ways –it even allowed us to get through a super short customs line which was wonderful.

Delta One spoiled me and I hope that our next long trip abroad is one that we can take using Delta One.

Have you ever flown Delta One or another similar airline service?  What was your favorite thing?

Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for our Comments for a Cause results and reveal.  It’s almost September already -how can that be possible?

I’m glad you had this wonderful flight to help you relax before, and after, the wedding. What a trip. And what a sweet couple, you two.

Yes. yes. yes. It was THE best way to go and not be all stressed out. We had room and it was wonderful to be able to actually stretch out and sleep on the way there since we flew there at night. The trip was amazing in every way. So blessed to have been able to go.

That’s amazing! We’ve only flown international once to England, but we did not fly first class. The food was nearly inedible chicken & rice on the way there, pasta on the way back… GROSS. Thanks for the travel tip, it looks like all the room & edible food are definitely worth the extra cost, esp if you are flying for 7+ hours.

It is pricey but with Chris’s mileage it made sense to use it for that. Our son asked what the upgrade cost would be for he and his fiancé’s tickets and it was over $8000!!!! He declined and they went in steerage. 🙂

I can’t remember the last time I was on a flight with any type of meal! Those were the old days where any flights three hours + had a full meal and there were empty seats here and there. I love your happy socks.

Meals are pretty much non existent anymore, that is for sure. And empty seats? HA!
