From Forests to Firefighters-Comments for a Cause

10 Comments/ 469/ 0

Who knew back in the first part of March when I chose The National Forest Foundation as my recipient of Comments for a Cause that it would take on an even more significant meaning for me and for many in our area? Certainly not me. I chose The National Forest Foundation because I love our national forests and national parks and am concerned about the future of them. I chose this charity because even small contributions can make a difference.

The National Forest Foundation provides so much to so many as you can read about here and on their website here. This month Chris and I are happy to make a donation of $75 to this organization that supports some of the most beautiful areas in our country. Thanks to them we have beautiful places to explore and enjoy.

.
It is a no brainer this month to highlight our own local Connestee Falls Fire Department as the recipient for our Comments for a Cause. These folks were our lifeline both during Hurricane Helene and our recent Table Rock Wildfire. When the communication from the county was a little sketchy, these guys stepped up on social media and kept us informed on a timely and accurate level and it was so appreciated. In this day of constant news messaging it was really a godsend to have a reliable source of information. Believe me, when you feel that your home is threatened you want to know how far away that fire is and what the experts who know fire are recommending.

I am happy to report that the Table Rock fire which was the closest one to us is at 68% containment as I write this. We had a steady rain today and that has helped continue to efforts to contain the fire. We have unpacked our suitcases (well, if I am honest Chris has but I have not had time to do that quite yet) and put our sentimental items and important papers back in place. We are so grateful to these first responders for all of their hard work.

Please join me this month in support of our wonderful Connestee Falls Fire Department who works hard every single day to keep us all safe and protected. For each comment made on the blog this month we will make a 50 cent donation to the Connestee Falls Fire Department. Thanks as always for your support.

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
