Happy Birthday to Mr. Diamond – It’s His Diamond Jubilee!!!!

10 Comments/ 514/ 1

Thanks to my friend Jena at Jena Books I realized that my sweet husband is celebrating his Diamond Jubilee today! (Exclamation marks are necessary today, my friends.) I hadn’t thought about that but it seems only appropriate to wish my own Mr. Diamond the happiest of days on his own Diamond Jubilee. This should not be limited to Queens and others who have more high profile lives, should it?

Today we celebrate 60 years of Chris Chiles. Happily I have known him for 41 of those 60 years which is very difficult to believe. We have been married 37 1/2 of those 60 years. The list just keeps getting better and better, doesn’t it?

I think when you reach the Diamond Jubilee level you have a lot of wisdom and experience. I have neglected to share Chrisisms lately so today I will do a recap of just a few of my favorites for your reading pleasure. I know you have missed them.

“The longer you live the more crap you have to remember.”

When seeing a man with a very mismatched shirt and tie combo: “That looks like a dog’s breakfast.”

“They are all God’s children but some are gonna need some extra large wings.”

“It isn’t raining – it’s moisturizing.“

“I am more a blob of smoldering love now instead of a hunk.”

“I have found that ignorance is much more common than common sense.”

Chris blew me a kiss and kept doin it. I asked him what was wrong with him and he said he had the love bug which was much better than a stomach bug.

“I burned 200 calories tossing and turning last night.”

“The beach is not real life.”

“Not all of the apples have rotted at the bottom of the barrel but some red to be made into applesauce. ”

I dreamed that the people that bought our house were zombies with limbs missing. Chris said ” I think you need a special visa for that.”

“That boy has reality TV star written all over him.”

“A vision is just a dream you drag into reality.”

“I am going to become a rapper and my name will be Hot Tea.”

Happiest of Birthdays to my sweet Mr. Diamond. Here’s to 60 more wonderful years of health and happiness. Eat all the cake. You deserve it.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...
