Happy Tiara, Escargot, Brother’s, Aviation Maintenance Technician Day!

7 Comments/ 477/ 0

Today is a day to celebrate! Celebrate what, you ask? All of the above.

My brother, Chris, has a Day of the Year calendar and quite often during the week I will get a Happy Taco Day or Happy Middle Brother Day text from him. It is funny when those texts come through and they always make me laugh and think I should somehow celebrate that day.

Somewhere along the way we have a lot of special days to celebrate. Of course most of them are made up but I am always up for a good celebration so who cares? Today I thought we should all be aware of what needs to be celebrated this day so here we go.

First of all it is Tiara Day. which began in 2005 to coincide with Barbara Bellissimo’s Seasons of Success which encouraged women everywhere to embrace their inner beauty and wear a tiara. Not only has the success of this day ensured it continuing it is also the birthday of Queen Victoria. Seems fitting, doesn’t it? The bottom line here is to celebrate self-worth and your own uniqueness. You don’t have to actually wear a tiara today but what fun if you have one to pull it out and wear it.

It is also Escargot day (Cooked land snails to you who are in the dark about this one). Snails are full of protein and low in fat as well as tasty so pop one of those slippery little suckers (thanks, Pretty Woman) into your mouth and enjoy a fancy snack. About 1 billion snails are served and consumed in restaurants yearly.

May 24th is also Brother’s Day which celebrates…you guess it….brothers. It is a day to let your brother know what he means to you. It is a day for brothers to celebrate brothers so if that applies to you – call him up, meet him for coffee or do something else to celebrate how important he is in your life.

Finally, it is Aviation Maintenance Technician’s Day so let’s celebrate and honor all of those who keep our aviation world humming along. This “holiday” was begun in 2001 by the Federal Aviation Administration to recognize the effort and innovation of Charles Edward Taylor who was the machinist who invented the engine that helped power the plane of the famous Wright Brothers. How to celebrate? If you know someone who is in aviation, simply thank them for their services.

How much fun is it to celebrate today? I may have to dig up a tiara and eat escargot. If you want to know more about special days click here to go to Days of the Year . There is something to celebrate every single day.

Come back later this week to read about my BFF trip to South Carolina with Ann. You know you want to know what we did, right? Leave me a comment and don’t forget to Comment for a Cause for Hospice of the Valley.
