Redware teapots like this one were a really popular style of teapot in the 1950’s and 1960’s. My mom had one and I am pretty sure my Grandma Bonnie had one as well. The one I am sharing today is one that my sister gave me that came from her mother in law so it is about the same age as well.

Many of these popular teapots had floral patterns painted on them and while the designs may vary from teapot to teapot they all were similar in style.
Notice this one even has a little hole in the lid where the tea ball can be secured. I love the design on this teapot and think that it served many cups of teas over the years.

Teapots come in so many styles and every time I see a new one I get excited. But sometimes the old ones like this vintage redware one are the best ones because they come with memories.

“The art of tea, whichever way you drink it, or whichever country you are from, has one underlining thread for all of us. It is the cultivation of yourself as you follow the ceremony of preparing your tea, the way in which you make your tea, how and where you drink it, and with whom. Making a cup of tea creates a space for just being.”

Leave a commentI agree, the old traditional style teapots bring back many good memories. Just think how many cups of tea have been shared from this teapot. If that teapot could talk!
I never realized that the little hole in the lid was for holding a little tea steeper. Learn something new every day. 🙂
The older I get the more I like older things. This is a beautiful teapot.
I agree – the teapots that have memories attached to them are my favorites too. This one is a gem.
