Heaps of Thanks!

11 Comments/ 2342/ 0

When I started doing Comments for a Cause back in April I had no idea how fun it would be to tabulate all of the comments at the end of the month!   I get kind of giddy just seeing how many of you folks have commented and boosted my numbers to make a decent donation to the cause of my choice each month!

This month is no different!  I asked you all to comment this month with the donation going to St. Rita’s Hospice here in Lima, OH where we had the honor of being the recipients of such wonderful loving care for my sweet father in law.  I am so excited that I had 283 comments this month via my blog and Facebook about my blog.  That nets a worth donation of $141.50 to Hospice!  Not too shabby! Thanks to you !!!

And now the moment you have all been waiting for !!!!!!  The Comments for a Cause recipient for October will be…………………….UNICEF!!!!  I don’t know how many of you remember doing Trick or Treat for UNICEF when you were younger but I sure do. Those little orange boxes were a familiar thing in our house and it was always a great thing to hear the money filling up inside!!!   October seemed appropriate as the time to highlight UNICEF and what all they do.  Take a look around their site and join me this month in lifting up a cause that is definitely worthy!!!  Click on the underlined link to go to the full article from last year celebrating 60 years!  Comment often!!!

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF celebrates 60 years of ‘kids helping kids’

NEW YORK, USA, 29 October 2010 – This year marks the 60th anniversary of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, one of UNICEF’s most widely recognized campaigns in the United States. In honour of this anniversary, we’ve opened up the radio vaults and found this classic: ‘A Halloween Story: The Trial of Sergeant Bill.’

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

I loved this book! It had my interest from the very first page and was my "airplane" book on a recent trip. Author Mary Kubica created believable and interesting characters that the reader learned to identify with and care about. Mi...

All the Light We Cannot See

This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
