I Had a Surprise Party Going on in My Head

10 Comments/ 2802/ 0

Today I woke up to a surprise party going on in my head.  Really, I did!!!   I had awoken early and did not get up but fell back asleep.  And that is when it happened.   My most vivid dream of late.   I was with my family–mom and sister and her hubby included–at some vacation type place which was undetermined.  All I know is this.   My sister was dressed in Little House on the Prairie style clothing in preparation for going to church.   Now she IS a pastor but as far as I know we have not required that type of clothing in the United Methodist Church.   At least not that I know of and I am a life long member.  Come from a long line of Methodists including a grandfather and father who were pastors!!!   So I do know a teeny bit about the traditions and customs!!!  A teeny bit.

But before we went to church we had to stop off at the grocery store.  Not quite sure why we had to do that but we did so we did!!!   We were wandering around, putting things in the cart, shopping in this grocery store with tons of other people.  I specifically needed to get watercress and I found that and put it in the cart.  We went to check out and for some reason the watercress would not ring up.  I was getting a tad bit annoyed with the cashier because she was dinking around and would not get our order all rung up.  The watercress was the hang up.   She insisted they did not carry that product and so since they did not carry it I could not buy it.  I was getting more and more agitated.  I know!!!  Me?  Agitated?? Over watercress???

Finally we got through the check out (Without the watercress)  and as we were leaving my brother in law was blocking my way and was positioned in front of a door which just kind of appeared in the middle of the store.  All of the sudden the entire store burst into a huge yell of “SURPRISE” (I guess all those random people were friends) and my brother in law opened the door to reveal the surprise……..

I woke up.  I never saw the surprise.   Was it a person?  There were an awful lot of people there that I knew and remembered.  Friends of my parents, my friends, family, etc.   So who or what was behind the door??????

After this dream I just was wondering how my mind came up with all of this and how on earth did I surprise myself??? I mean think about it—if my mind came up with this entire dream how could I really be surprised??? And I really was.   I know I think about things in a weird way but this boggles my mind—how could I surprise myself when I came up with the dream in the first place??? Thoughts????

Old Girls in Low Cotton
