In A Blink of An Eye

15 Comments/ 524/ 0

Just like that.

In a blink of an eye.

I am an AARP member.

How on earth did that happen? A couple weeks ago I had a mammogram (important for all the ladies out there) and in our conversation when I was filling out paperwork I gasped that I was actually 61 years old. How on earth did that happen? I mean it really seems like just yesterday I was 28.

For some reason 28 was a good number for me. I don’t know why but 28 always sticks in my mind that it was a good time for me.

But enough about ancient history. Because that is indeed ancient history.

What got me thinking about my age again was that this magazine has been on my coffee table for a few weeks waiting to be read.

Now getting a subscription to the AARP magazine is kind of a jolt to the system if you don’t “think” you are old enough to receive it. But I am and here we are.

It actually is a decent magazine. Along with the ads for walk in tubs, Life Alerts, and Jitterbug phones there are some decent articles to be found inside the covers.

This current issue has some great ideas for different uses for muffin tins, home improvement ideas as well as some book recommendations. You know I am always up for that although I have put a moratorium on buying physical books for awhile due to overflowing shelves.

So I guess being a member of the AARP crowd has its perks, right?

So I embrace it, the perks that come with it and the knowledge that I have 61 years of learning and experience and maybe wisdom behind me.

Oh and take a look at this little article that was tucked in amongst the ads for hearing aids and health insurance information. Perfect, right?

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
