The Perfect Gift

14 Comments/ 537/ 0

I have had the privilege of making a lot of friend over the years. Moving around has its perks. Having a husband who has had different jobs over the years has helped with some of those perks as well.

Last week I received a package in the mail from a friend I made through the last company that Chris worked for before he started his consulting business. The little group of wives of employees in this group had a couple of fun events that we did together and I felt like I had made some good friends. Some of those friendships have been maintained and I am always grateful when that happens.

The package came and as I opened it I knew it would be something really special. Sheri is a very talented and creative person and her gift to me was this lovely mug mat that she had created for me to keep on my nightstand for my evening drink and more.

But probably even better than the beautiful little mug mat is the poem that Sheri wrote that chronicles my relationship with my mom. It is so very sweet. She read my posts and took bits and pieces out of them to create the perfect poem.

There is something about bonding over losing your mom. I know it is a club that no one wants to be a part of but it is a reality and one that I now belong to along with Sheri. I am so grateful for friends like Sheri who reach out and remind me that they are there.

I love that now I have this beautiful reminder of my mom to look at every night when I go to bed and every morning when I put my coffee cup on the nightstand.

Thank you, Sheri, for this sweet gift and for your gift of friendship as well. I am blessed.

Have you had a blessing this week that touched you? I would love to hear about it in the comments. Please leave a comment and Comment for a Cause – for UMCOR.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
