It’s here! It’s here!!! International Label Day!!!! If you are like me you were unaware of the existence of International Label Day but I suspect that some of my more savvy friends like Katybeth at Odd Loves Company were already aware of the existence long before me. I was given a heads up to it by Rara who writes over at Rarasaur. Last year she did a fabulous post about it and this year she will do the same. Since I am a member of Team Poblano she invited me to join in the fun this year and you can go see her post featuring all the “entries” this yearby clicking here..
According to The Urban Dictionary this day is all about the following:
International Label Day is celebrated November 21st. This holiday celebrates the beauty of the words we choose to let shape us, the subcultures that we are proud to be part of, and the surprising meaning of the labels we all choose for ourselves!
We all have many labels and unfortunately most often when we think of the word “label” we think of something negative. Labels can define someone in many ways and a negative label is something that sticks with you for life. It can be ugly. It can be hurtful and damaging.
But today I am celebrating labels that are beautiful! Labels that are positive and self affirming. Labels that empower. Labels that separate us from the crowd.
If you could have just one label for yourself on International Label Day—what would it be? Please leave it in the comments—-I really want to create a positive imagine today for International Label Day. Thanks, Rara, for such a great way to celebrate US!!!!

Leave a commentCaring. Great post! I heard something on the radio a few weeks ago that said when men and women were asked to describe themselves, women tended to choose negative labels or descriptions. Thanks for being positive!
I am nothing if I am not positive!!! Thanks for yours!!! My original one was compassionate but it was too long…..and I didm ‘t want to be in the picture. 🙂
Who knew there was such a day. If I had to choose, how about kind and creative. I know that’s two. However, I hear it’s also International Bend the Rules Day. LOL
Hugs from Ecuador,
Kathy
YOu can have two, Kathy!!! I think that those are perfect words for you!!!! And thanks for the heads up on Bend the Rules Day—let’s see what we can come up with.
Friend
Perfect!!!!
I would like my label to be LOVE. Thanks for sharing this! ♥
That is a wonderful label!!!! I LOVE it! 🙂
Thank you ~ I loved yours as well and decided to do the exercise at my blog!
Oh thank you so much!!!!! You rock!
I pinged back to your blog on mine today!
Thanks so much!!!! Will check it out!
Just one is tough! How about positive.
Perfect!!!! That is a wonderful way to live life!!! Thanks for commenting!
I have been told that I have a great sense of humor. Funny. And empathetic.
Good Morning Beth Ann!
Good morning!!! I love your labels. Isn’t it nice to focus on the positive labels instead of the negatives????
Yes! I do tend to give myself negative labels. It’s hard to say something good about myself.. 🙂 Good post Beth Ann!
I think we are all kind of like that but good for us for celebrating the positive today!!!! Yay us!!! 🙂
Can I Just Be “Unlabeled”. There Are So Many Facets To Me And My Personality That Its Difficult To Label Myself.
You may be Muli-Labeled!!!!! 🙂
[…] I asked people where they were from – mind you this person is sharing freely on Facebook. Beth Ann, claimed I was a trouble maker to which I maturely defended myself, AM NOT. We are having […]
I am choosing two words also: good listener.
Thanks for this uplifting post. Another one for the devotionals book.
You are too kind!!! Hey—there is my word!!! And yours are very appropriate. Hard to narrow it down to just one, isn’t it????
Ah, the perfect word for you. You are one of the kindest people I know. And funny, caring, beautiful … I could go on. Now for bend the rules day-is that a pub calling my name?
Thank you so much! It is difficult to come up with positive labels but this one is one that I embrace. 🙂 I know the bend the rules day thing is calling to me, too. I am such a rule abider—I may need to embrace this one today, too. What to do, what to do??
I know a good pub … One of the best ways to break the rules is not to do anything. curl up on the couch with queenie and take a nap, read, or zone out. Just relax
[…] Bethannchiles did it too! Cick here to see her post! […]
🙂
Kind! Fits you to a tea! My label? Passionate.
That is the perfect word for you!!!!
Love your post and question! I had no idea that there was such a day. Does Hallmark know? :). My word would be: supportive ~
Oh supportive is an amazing label!!! I love it!!! I think we should alert Hallmark!!! Really!
What a great day! I wonder who thinks up all these interesting days. Well, some may not think it is positive, but since I am going to use it in its most playful manner – and because I played a little practical joke on the kids this morning to start our day with a bit of humour: Waggish.
Somedays, we all need a bit of humour, and I am not above playing the role of Puck. 😉
OH I love the practical joker side of you!!!That is awesome!!! Keeps life interesting in my humble opinion!
“Kind” fits you to a tee, Beth Ann! I never knew there was such a day set aside for us to pin good labels on ourselves and others. As for me, I’ve got to choose two, Creative and Optimistic.
Thanks, Debbie!!! I think there is a day for everything !!! Your words are awesome!!!! And perfect what I have learned about you!

I’ve never been a huge fan of labels for the simple fact that so many can be and are negative. Not to mention sometimes they are also restrictive at times. But, thankfully, we do have the power to rip them off and put on new ones if we want to. If I had to label myself with only one label right now it’d be either smart or determined. Great post, Beth!
I agree about the usual negative ones—that is why I said that mine were going to be positive!!! It is more difficult to find positive things at times but we all have those traits and parts of us that are very positive. I love yours, by the way! Smart and determined are absolutely wonderful labels!!!
Wee! Happy International Label Day to you too!! Isn’t it a fun day 🙂 I love this celebration!
For my label I chose, ‘Cupcake’. Cupcakes are big part of my illustration career and people are beginning calling me one as well. They probably don’t think I’m a real one though, but I think it stands for being kind and sweet to others. 🙂
I love that your label is cupcake—-you are way ahead of me on visiting the other blogs that were featured!!! Glad you stopped over and yes—I can see that you are kind and sweet so it totally fits!!!! Thanks for coming over!
Thankful—and not just on Thanksgiving.
Yes, you are. And I am thankful for YOU!
Tenacious
Never heard of this and I just can’t think of a “label” that I would call myself. I guess, some people say I’m sweet – so I’ll go with that. I like being sweet!!! 🙂
Hmmm… just one label? Ai ya. I don’t know. Not “strong” because I’m not and because that can be a hindrance…. Hmm… maybe “present.” Like… present for the moments in life, present for my people, present when it’s difficult to show up.
Strong is a wonderful label!!! Simply fabulous!!!!! Thanks for playing along!

I like your “Kind” label. Drat! I missed another holiday, too!
There is always some holiday according to Katybeth at Odd Loves Company. She has quite a list!
Friendly! What do you think?
