It’s Book Week!

2 Comments/ 12/ 0

I may have just invented a new week to celebrate but hey – it’s my blog so it’s my choice, right? I realized that this is indeed book week around here as we prepare for the 56th Annual AAUW Brevard Used Book Sale. I will share more about that later on in the week but it just is what is on my mind and on my calendar and I thought I would kick the week off with some fun books I found at our Transylvania County Library.

I had a book on hold that my sister had recommended – Time of the Child– so I popped in to pick up the copy that was waiting for me. While I wandered around, which is what you do in libraries, I happened upon their amazing display of books that were about libraries or library related. Many of them I had already read but there were a lot of really great ones that I had to choose from. What fun!

The first one- The Public Library– is amazing. The pages are filled with lovely pictures of libraries ranging in size and scope, in grand surroundings and in humble surroundings, with lovely essays scattered throughout. I love this one.

.

Next up is a short but witty book about librarians – I Work at a Public Library– and the many interesting things that are asked of them or experienced as a librarian. Definitely one that made me smile.

.

.

Finally a lovely book featuring some of the best people on earth — -librarians. This is What a Librarian Looks Like is a lovely book with lots of wonderful people featured who take their job seriously and who are making a difference in the world.

.

.

My love of books is matched to my love of librarians and their dedication to their jobs. Thank a librarian today!

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
