There is little doubt that in our neck of the woods there is one true sign that summer is in full swing. That sign is when McCall’s Farm and Produce has fresh corn. Thursday was the magical day that they had corn for the first time and of course I was booked with obligations until 1:30 pm. I was sure that I would not get any because they sell out and especially on the first day.

But wonder of all wonders – by the time I got there they had lovely bags of bicolor corn. $7.50 a dozen and worth every penny. I got a couple dozen and shared some with a couple of friends before I cooked some up for dinner.

There is just nothing like that first fresh corn of the summer. Paired with a little grilled pork chop, some fresh melon and it was the perfect summer meal. I could eat it every single night. What about you? What is your sign of summer?
