Amazing photo!!! Brings back childhood memories of going (being dragged along) with Mom and Grandma to a local peach orchard. I didn’t eat them, and I most likely didn’t pick any, but I certainly ended up itching from the peach fuzz!
Fuzzy things…fwiw I think the caterpillar would be a “mature” Hyphantria cunea, looking for a place to pupate preferably near a non-sibling of the opposite sex. Wouldn’t bite into the peach twice if it did once.
Hyphantria and another Arctiid species whose English name is “Dagger” are about the only caterpillars I’ve seen this year, due to the war on gyps…one or two cutworms, and of course, because pests *always* survive poisoning better than nice species, the horrible hibiscus caterpillars. But, until Hyphantria started hatching, nothing harmless and cute.
I’ve never actually seen a dark one, in real life. Mine are chartreuse.

It was at my local market and I just spied him and said–yes–take a picture!
Yum…well, except for Mr. Fuzzy Caterpillar!
Peachy!
So funny. I kept saying “just peachy” yesterday… but didn’t mean it in a nice way. 😉
Just a little protein. lol

This guy was just too cute to not photograph at a local market. I had no idea what kind he was but he looked pretty comfy on that peach.
