Marblehead Lighthouse

14 Comments/ 46/ 1

Whenever I visit Lakeside, Ohio I also have to make a visit to the Marblehead Lighthouse . Located just past Lakeside outside of the charming little town of Marblehead, this lighthouse is the oldest of the Great Lakes lighthouses that has been in continuous service.

2022 will be the celebration of the 200th anniversary of this lighthouse and I am sure there will be a lot of festivities to help celebrate. You can still walk up in the lighthouse during selected hours (currently noon until 4 pm) and it is always a good idea to check their website prior to going if you want to be able to do that.

Over the years I have taken countless photographs of the lighthouse but one thing stands constant — the beauty of this structure. It holds a dear place in the hearts of many as you can imagine from the crowds that usually flock to see it.

For more information on the park and all things lighthouse related the best place to get the latest and greatest is the Marblehead Lighthouse Historical Society website. This non-profit helps maintain the property and museum and all things that related to the lighthouse.

We are planning a Fall trip and will be spending several nights around the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. This might be a good day trip!

There’s just something about a lighthouse. I love seeing them, visiting them and going up to take in the view. Thanks for sharing.

Yes — there is just something special about them, isn’t there? Always ready to go off the main road to see them.

Nice to “see” Marblehead. When we visited it a couple years ago, it was all covered up being renovated (I think painted).
