I love surprises and when the surprise that arrives includes a book, I love it even more! Hats off to Minnesota author Jess Lourey for coming up with the perfect 70’s themed box of goodies to help relaunch her Murder by Month series of books. I have been a huge fan of Jess Lourey since Bernie who used to blog at One Mixed Bag introduced me to her work. Her first series that drew me in was this one -the Murder by Month series featuring none other than waitress turned librarian Mira James. With just the right amount of quirkiness and lots of humor (think writing like Janet Evanovich), Lourey has charmed me with her words for years. The box of goodies was given to a select few who do reviews or who are fans and is in anticipation of the relaunch of the first book in the series – May Day- in April 2024. Another book in the 12 book series will be released monthly so that is an entire year of things to look forward to.

Open up the cute box and what do you find?
A box full of fun goodies that all relate to the book and the fun 70’s theme that surrounds the book. I love the updated cover and know that when I reread this one I am going to fall in love with Mira all over again.
From the infamous Nut Goodie to Lipsmackers lip gloss (remember that?) to Warheads and Lemonhead candies this box got my attention from the moment I opened it. Add to that a fabulous recipe I must make soon for Tater Totdish and a postcard with the infamous Chief Wenonga of Battle Creek along with a plastic roach and this box was one that I will remember long after the contents are gone.

I love the way Jess (yes, I feel like I am on a first name basis with her) markets her books and she has just had such an amazing career already. From the Murder by Month series to fantasy, children’s, young adult, non fiction and thrillers and expense the books (and hits) just keep on coming. I have loved every single thing that I have read by her and am always on the lookout for the latest. I am currently reading an ARC of her latest book, The Reaping, that comes out later this year.
If you want to know more, please visit her website here and click on all the links. She also has done an amazing Ted Talk and you can view that below. Be on the lookout for this great series and support a great author who has such versatility when it comes to writing. And did I mention she fosters kitties? Follow her on Facebook to get your daily fix of fun kitty videos. Thanks Jess for another wonderful gift and for the gift of your writing which entertains me every single time.
