Memories

11 Comments/ 366/ 0

Did you ever buy something simply because it evoked a memory that was pleasurable? I must admit that I do and recently I did just that.

I wanted to get a new duvet cover for our bed. Maksim has made his mark (claws) known on the one that I had on the bed and it was looking a little tired. I love duvets because you can change out the covers without spending a ton of money and get different looks.

So I was on the search for the perfect cover and found the perfect one on Overstock. it may be a little old fashioned but I tell you what it reminds me of. My mom.

You see she had a chenille bedspread for years and years and years. When she lived in the house at Copeland Oaks she put that bedspread on the guest bed so it was always on the bed I slept on. If I took a nap or slept on top of the bedspread I would get imprints from the chenille bumps on my skin. Growing up we called these “waffles”. I loved having waffles from my mom’s comforter.

So when I found a chenille duvet cover I decided that was what I wanted on our bed. It isn’t the same as hers but it gives me the same feeling of comfort and I remember hers.

It’s been a week of missing her for some reason. It comes and goes but this week has been especially difficult.

So when I get to missing her I go look at my bed and think of happy memories and how well I always slept when I stayed with her. There was just something about being in my mom’s house that was comforting.

What brings you comfort when you need it? I would love to hear about it so please leave me a comment and Comment for a Cause for Ohio Northern University.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
