Comments for a Cause – College Loyalty

6 Comments/ 238/ 0

Welcome to August 2021!!! Whew. It’s been quite a ride, hasn’t it? But here we are and aren’t we all just so happy to be here?

I am thrilled to share that our recipient for Comments for a Cause for the month of July sparked a lot of interest and conversation about macular degeneration. It is a disease that affects too many people and the American Macular Degeneration Foundation is doing a lot to help educate the public about this debilitating disease.

This month, due to your generosity in leaving comments, Chris and I will be making a donation of $130 to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation. Thank you so much for your continued support of my “causes”.

One of the things that was very important to my mother was education. While she herself was an educator, she also loved to help others reach their potential through education. She was a mentor to many young students and teachers and it always made her happy to know that her “kids’ were learning. Of course she gave a great deal of credit to the education she received at Ohio Northern University.

This year is all about honoring her and one of the places that she supported over the years was her alma mater – Ohio Northern University. All four of her children attended with three graduating from the university over the years and it was a source of pride for her. It was an important place to her even as she grew older. I took her on a short trip there a few years ago to show her the campus and stay in the Inn at Northern and she loved seeing how the place had changed since she attended. The following is a map I found online of what the campus looked like pretty much when she attended.

The following map shows the campus as it is today. It has changed a little bit over the years as you can see.

Today I am thrilled to announce that during the month of August all comments made on any blog post on It’s Just Life will mean Chris and I will make a 50 cent donation to not only my mother’s alma mater but mine and Chris’ as well. I know my mom would smile at this and be happy that we were supporting “her” school.

As always, thank you for being such loyal readers who support my ramblings five times a week and encourage me to keep sharing. You are wonderful.

Glad you are supporting education. And I really like how each month, we learn more about your Mom, her life and interests. Did your Mom happen to know Dr. Bettinger at Ohio Northern?
